There are lots of scam attempts on the internet today. We do our best to prevent and catch most of them, but we also need you to notify us if you see anything suspicious. If you follow a couple of rules and use common sense then you can definitely shop safely online, both on boocoo and elsewhere.
This one is important! We can't say this enough: if you see something on boocoo that is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE then it probably is. If someone is selling a $500 Electronic for $40 or a $1000 computer for $90, then I would call that TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, and I'd be suspicious. Sometimes you will run into really good deals, but please use some common sense and do some research on the product you’re looking to buy.
Check a seller’s feedback, it’s there for a reason. If a seller has a high positive feedback count then more than likely he is legit. I'm not saying don't buy from people with “0” feedback, because everyone has to start out from the bottom, but proceed with caution.
Get in touch with the seller, especially if they do not have feedback. Don't be afraid to ask questions. You want as much information pertaining to the item as possible. You should always be in contact after the purchase. Once the auction ends the seller will send you a invoice letting you know where and how to pay. Before you send payment you can email the seller to make sure you can get in touch with him or her promptly, and after you send payment contact the seller asking for tracking information.
As a seller, never give personal information to buyers, but give as much detail as you can about the item your selling. Obviously buyers will know some basic information about you such as your name and email address, but if someone requests your bank account number or a pin number that's probably not something you should share. Some scams out there are done by people bidding on auctions and winning the auction, and then contacting the sellers with an email like the one below.
This is a example of an email that one of our sellers got from a potential buyer.
Quote:

to pay it. My method of payment is with my bank, for me to proceed with the
